Rehearsals - The Bernstein Kaddish and Rossini Stabat Mater

Although not our stunning soloists, this is a wonderful production from Salzburg in 2011 with

Anna Netrebko
Marianna Pizzolato
Matthew Polenzani
Ildebrando d'Arcangelo

It is always exciting to transition from rehearsing by myself to rehearsing with a larger ensemble. Rehearsing my own part sitting in front of a keyboard or a piano is never as invigorating as when I get to sing with my colleagues and friends - ESPECIALLY when we are working with the Philadelphia Orchestra. I have found myself in the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir for the past few years. We work with the Philadelphia Orchestra during the year to present large scale choral (and operatic) works. This production is being headed by our Music Director Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Working with Maestro Nézet-Séguin is like watching a painter who paints with his whole being and not just his brush. The energy and thought and excitement that he brings to everything he does makes him a thrill to work with.

Today we rehearsed the Rossini Stabat Mater and got the opportunity to hear our INCREDIBLE soloists (Nadine Sierra, Elizabeth DeShong, John Osborne, and Krzysztof Baczyk). Working with people who are the top of their game makes the experience even more exciting. Seeing the way they work, hearing the emotion and intelligence they use when they sing as well as watching the ensemble they create amongst themselves upon first meeting makes for a heck of a learning experience.

I hope that you are able to come to the shows this week.
