Tosca (Soprano Ensemble)

It was so exciting to work with Jennifer Rowley, Yusif Eyvazov and the countless talented singers in this production. Getting to see people who are at the top of their field working up close is such a treat. Wish we had more chances for everyone to see it. I am certainly going to miss my dress the most. HAHA!

PROGRAM

Puccini - Tosca

Soprano Jennifer Rowley has graciously agreed to appear in the title role of The Philadelphia Orchestra's upcoming performances of Tosca. The performances will take place as scheduled on May 12, 16, and 19.

Sonya Yoncheva, originally scheduled to perform in the role, has regrettably withdrawn due to a double ear infection. She must continue medical treatment in Europe and is not permitted to travel by plane for the next weeks on her doctor's orders.

Ms. Rowley is acclaimed worldwide for her unforgettable voice and remarkable stage presence. In the 2017-18 season, following performances of the same title role with Nashville Opera, she returned to the Metropolitan Opera in its new production of Tosca, where she presented a “magnificent” (ZEALnyc) portrayal. She later starred as Leonora in Il trovatore on the Met stage, celebrated as “glorious, showing the listener the range her instrument truly possesses” (Operawire).

Verizon Hall in The Kimmel Center

The world's leading opera conductor brings to Verizon Hall one of the finest of Italian grand operas with the unparalleled Philadelphia Orchestra on stage. Only superlatives suffice as an all-star cast of international singers joins the Philadelphians to stage Puccini's impassioned tale of love, murder, and redemption. A superb opportunity to hear one of opera's greatest scores immersed in the incomparable Philadelphia Sound.

These performances are generously sponsored by and dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Jacqueline Desmarais.
